We went for a family walk last night as the snow was heavily falling.
It was such a wet snow that the consistency of the snow already on the ground was like soggy mashed potatoes.
Whenever I go to sleep and it’s snowing I always have a sense of excitement.
When I was a kid there was always the hope of cancelled school.
I still go to sleep hoping, maybe tomorrow I’ll have a snow day!
Then I remember that I’m an adult, and a parent, and snow days really don’t mean anything different for my day. Oh well.
It is fun though, to see the boys’ reactions to snow when they wake up.
Even when the snow is days old they still are excited to see snow out the window.
Big Brother says,
“Brother, come look. I want to show you something!”
He then pulls back the curtain in their bedroom and shows his brother the snow.
Then they run to the other bedroom window.
Did it snow out that window too?
Yep, it did.
And on into the living room.
Did it snow out this window?
It snowed out that window too.
What about the park?
“Mom! Can you lift us up so we can see if it snowed at the park?
Yep, it snowed at the park too.
We look up at the skylight.
Snow there too.
Snow on our skylights always makes us jump in surprise throughout the day as it slides off the roof.
It sounds like a giant scraping at our ceiling.
Then they usually end up like this.
Little cheese heads.
I hope wherever you are across the country, you are enjoying your snow day too, whatever that means for you.
Love from Denver!
